Islamabad High Court stopped the Election Commission from by -elections in three constituencies in Islamabad.

Chief Justice Islamabad High Court Aamir Farooq heard the petition against the PTI's decision to de-notify the Election Commission of the National Assembly from Islamabad on Wednesday.

The court has suspended the notification of approval of the resignations and issued a notice to the parties and sought a response.

It may be recalled that the Election Commission had earlier suspended the notification of de -notification to 32 members of the Pakistan Tehreek -e -Insaf (PTI).

In a notification issued by the Election Commission last week, it was said that 32 members of the National Assembly were suspended on the order of the Lahore High Court.

What is the number game in the National Assembly?

After the decision of the Islamabad High Court, the total number of members of the Pakistan Tehreek -e -Insaf in the National Assembly will increase to 64, among them Raja Riaz has the support of 24 members.

Thus the PTI will have to get the support of at least 25 members to nominate their opposition leader.

According to the National Assembly number game, the number of members of the PTI, besides the defamation, has increased to 40. Thus, the PTI will be able to elect its opposition leader.

What is the method of choosing the opposition leader?

According to the Rules of the National Assembly, the opposition leader nominates the majority party on the opposition benches in the House.

According to the Rules, the majority of the opposition in the House writes a letter to the Speaker of the National Assembly, nominating the opposition leader, which must obtain the signature of the majority members.

In this regard, Puldat chief Ahmed Bilal Mehboob says, "If the PTI returns to Parliament, it will be the largest party on the opposition benches and according to the rules, the opposition leader will be his."

Ahmed Bilal Mehboob says that if the number of PTI members is higher than the Raja Riaz group, then the PTI will be nominated in this case.

It is to be noted that Pakistan Tehreek -e -Insaf Chief Whip Aamir Dogar has written a letter to the National Assembly regarding changing the opposition leader.

Pakistan Tehreek -e -Insaf has nominated Shah Mehmood Qureshi as an opposition leader, but the Speaker of the National Assembly has taken the stand that the resignation of PTI members has been approved in accordance with the law.
